STUDENT REPRESENTATION

Being a student representative is one of the most important contributions you can make to your fellow students during your studies. In order for us students to be able to secure our influence in education, we must work together to ensure that students are represented in all the university's preparatory and decision-making bodies. Appointing and organizing student representation is therefore one of the most important tasks of the Student Union.

It is important that you feel you can always turn to us for support in your work as a student representative. Since you are elected on behalf of the Union, it is our job to help you. You can always get help from someone who knows your field or who has knowledge of the university body you are elected to.

The presence of student representatives in all university bodies is at the heart of student influence; being represented gives us the opportunity to give a student perspective on issues that affect us. Student influence is crucial for the quality of education and educational development.

But what does a student representative do? A student representative is a student or doctoral student who has been appointed by a student union as a member or alternate member of a decision-making or preparatory body within the university. This may, for example, apply to bodies relating to undergraduate education, postgraduate education, program coordination, equal opportunities, the faculty or the department. For example, you can be a student representative for the subject or program you are studying where you as a student representative are involved in expressing the opinions of other students and influencing the decisions made in connection with your education.

The way student representatives are appointed varies, but it is always on behalf of the Student Union that you are elected to represent your fellow students. The mission of the student representative is to provide a student and doctoral student perspective on the issues under discussion and help ensure that the decisions made benefit the students and doctoral students.
