Today is my last day as President of the Student Union in Sundsvall.
When I took office two years ago, I could never have imagined what lay ahead; this journey has been educational beyond words - and for this I can thank no one but you, our members.
Today marks the end not only of my presidency, but also of my time in our student life, where I have been constantly involved since 2019. During these five years, there have been many setbacks, but the trend has always been clearly upwards.
Sundsvall may be small in student life, but we punch above our weight. The beauty of our small student life is that anything is possible here; in recent years we have organized events with over 800 participants, had gigs with major artists and subscribed to an alarming number of bouncy castles - all on the initiative of our members and partner associations.
Over the past two years, I have had the great honour of chairing an organization that has developed a lot and achieved many good things. New grants have been negotiated, our presence in national student politics has been strengthened, a doctoral student section has been set up, and the atmosphere between all student associations is at its peak. The icing on the cake is, of course, that we will soon have our own student union building. None of this would have been possible without our members and partner associations.
Next, I will continue my commitment to students in SFS - Sveriges Förenade Studentkårer, where I have been given the great confidence to be a board member.
It's sad to step down from this post; especially given how many good things are happening. However, I leave with a good feeling in my stomach. The door is ajar for a good future for the organization and our student life.
I want to thank everyone who has been involved in any way in the last 5 years for all the crazy ideas, discussions and activities they have been involved in. In particular, I would like to thank everyone who has been a student representative, and thus sacrificed their free time to make life better for other students. I would also like to thank all the line and cultural associations for your great commitment and for allowing me to wield the gavel during many of your membership meetings - you are the real heroes. There are also many people to whom I would like to say a big thank you - but that would be a bit tricky to do here and now, so let's just keep it honest: no one mentioned, no one forgotten.
And with that said, may I simply say: Most humble thanks for allowing me to represent you. I will never forget you. Erik Lund
