HISTORY

The Student Union in Sundsvall was founded in 1977 and is a democratically structured non-profit organization. The main purpose of the Student Union is to represent members in study policy and thereby raise the quality of Mid Sweden University's education.

STUDENT UNION HALL

Between the years 1989-2016, the student union in Sundsvall ran a union house business (Sundsvalls Studenters kårhus AB), SSKAB being a wholly owned limited company by the Student Union and thus ultimately by Sundsvall's students. Kårhuset operations took place in Sundsvall's city library and university library's old premises and there was a restaurant and bar business for the students in Sundsvall. All staff in the union house also consisted of students who worked voluntarily.

In 2016, the business moved instead to the Grönborg property, which is located within Campus Sundsvall. SSKAB ran the business in Grönborg until January 2019 and has since then had cooperation with the new players who have run restaurant and club activities in Grönborg.
